Cold Laser Therapy
Low Level Laser Therapy, sometimes known as Cold Laser, is an effective treatment for athletes due to the prospect of shorter recovery and lay-off times. Laser therapy is helpful for muscle tears, bruising and tendon injuries. It has been shown to have an ability to improve arthritis, neuropathy, bursitis, tendonitis and is effective as a pain reliever.
Laser therapy works by stimulating internal healing on the cellular level. During a treatment,
light penetrates six to eight inches below the skin’s surface. Energy from the laser promotes the
production of cellular ATP (Adenosine Tri-Phosphate), a chemical necessary for cells to repair damage.
Increased production of ATP means that damaged tissue heals faster. Patients with sprains or strains
may recover three to five times faster with laser therapy.
The treatment also relieves chronic pain for debilitating conditions such as arthritis by reducing
inflammation. Our chiropractor also recommends laser therapy as an alternative form of pain
management for chronic back pain, hip pain and neck pain.
We recommend cold laser at the same time other chiropractic techniques are being used to help
alleviate pain and improve mobility.
